Thawq is a restaurant discovery app. This page describes exactly what we store, where it lives, and how you remove it. It describes the app as it is actually built, not as a template.
Terms of Use
Last updated 1 September 2026 · Beta
These terms cover your use of Thawq. Using the app means you accept them.
Thawq is in beta. It is early software given to a small group of people. Things will break, data may occasionally be lost, and features will change or disappear. Please do not rely on it as your only record of anything.
Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old.
- One account per person. Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Give us accurate information when you sign up.
What you post
Your reviews, ratings, and photos remain yours. We do not claim ownership of them.
By posting, you give us permission to display, store, and distribute that content inside Thawq, and to use your ratings — as numbers, never attached to your name — to compute restaurant scores and match you with people whose taste resembles yours. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account.
You confirm that what you post is yours to post: your own photos, your own words, your own honest opinion.
Honest reviews are the whole point
Thawq exists because published restaurant rankings are usually bought. That only holds if the ratings inside it are real. So:
- Rate only places you have actually eaten at.
- Do not accept payment, free meals, or any other benefit in exchange for a rating or review. If a restaurant offers, tell us.
- Do not review your own restaurant, or one you work for, own part of, or are related to the owner of.
- Do not coordinate ratings with others to raise or sink a place.
- Do not post anything false, defamatory, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or illegal.
- Do not scrape, resell, or bulk-extract our data.
- Do not impersonate anyone.
We remove content and suspend accounts that break these rules. Manipulating ratings is the one thing we treat as unforgivable, because it is the thing that destroys the product for everyone else.
Reporting and blocking
You can block another member or report content from inside the app. We review reports and act on them, though we cannot promise a specific timeframe during the beta.
Restaurant information
Details about restaurants — names, locations, opening hours, photos — come from public sources and from members, and some of it will be wrong or out of date. Check before you drive. We are not responsible for your experience at any restaurant, and we do not endorse, operate, or take payment from any of them.
Ending it
You can delete your account at any time from Settings, and it takes effect immediately.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. If we do, we will tell you why unless there is a legal reason we cannot.
No warranty
Thawq is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. We do not promise it will be available, accurate, or uninterrupted. Recommendations are suggestions, not guarantees — taste is personal and we will sometimes be wrong.
Limits on liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of Thawq, including anything to do with a meal you ate because we suggested it. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.
Changes
We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Thawq afterwards means you accept the new version.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and disputes fall to the courts of Jeddah.
